Elf Idea | Name That Tune Game

in Celebrations, Christmas, Crafts & DIY, Printables

Has the Christmas Elf craze hit your home? Here are 7 days of Elf fun ready for you with our Name that Tune Game! Download the free printable card tents and let the kids play along all week long, trying to figure out what popular Christmas carol their Elf is trying to act out.

First grab the FREE PRINTABLE of these tent cards, trim to size and fold along the dotted line to form the card tents. Each evening set up your scene using the suggestions below and place the card tent nearby to surprise them in the morning. Remember, you’re not supposed to touch the Elf, as according to the book, they will lose their magic. Make sure to station your setup someplace the kids won’t touch it and you won’t need to touch it in order to read the back of the card tent.

  • Name That Tune: Rocking Around the Christmas Tree – Use those same plush friends or toy characters and have them lined up along your tree, large or small. Bonus: add some musical instructions in to make it really look like they’re rocking the house!
  • Name That Tune: Oh Christmas Tree – Stack 8 green paper cups and a mini tree topper to like a Christmas tree.
  • Name That Tune: Jingle Bell Rock – This one might be one of the easiest to set up, but might take a little more guidance to figure out. It’s literally a jingle bell and a rock!
  • Name That Tune: Frosty the Snowman – Create a snowman with a stack of toliet paper rolls or by decorating white paper lanterns to form the basic snowman shape. Use tape to attach them together then wrap a piece of crepe streamers around the center to create a faux scarf. Cut eyes, buttons and carrot shapes from orange and black cardstock to complete the snowman look.
  • Name That Tune: Deck the Halls – Create paper chains with red or green cardstock to hang in the hallway of your home. Tip: painter’s tape is always great to secure something up high without damaging your walls.
  • Name That Tune: Winter Wonderland – If you’re a big coffee drinker, this project will be simple! Fold a coffee filter in half, then half again, then again and cut out little shapes along the folds. Unfold and you’ll have a snowflake! Repeat to make additional snowflakes to hang using fishing line, and bring the winter indoors!
  • Name That Tune: Silent Night – Grab your child’s favorite plush stuffed animals or toys and a pack of painter’s tape and you’re all set to make a silent night in your home. Line them up, tape their mouths up and let the giggles (and hopefully not tears) happen when they see their favorites and their sneaky, seasonal helper Elf.
