With a 3 month old and 2 year old (who is not yet potty trained) in our house, you can expect that we go through PLENTY of baby wipes. When asked if we wanted to check out a durable and effective brand of baby wipes that doesn’t contain any harmful chemicals, I was game.
As I’ve previously mentioned here, Derek’s side of the family has a history of dry skin and eczema issues. For that reason, I’m all about trying out safer, natural options for anything that interacts with my little ones skin, like WaterWipes.
WaterWipes is best known in Europe as a premium brand, but it’s making it’s way into homes in the US. Why? It’s only made of two ingredients – 99.9% purified water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract. The wipes themselves are pretty thick so therefore durable and effective against big messes. And trust me, my sweet little Hailey, put these wipes to the test! And while she isn’t prone to diaper rashes often, these types of chemical free wipes are recommended to help combat those troubles.
One of my favorite parts of these WaterWipes was how they came out of the package. I hate when changing her with other brands and 12 wipes come out of the package at once. But this doesn’t happen when I use WaterWipes! These aren’t interfolded so you can pull one out of the package without contaminating the sterile environment in the rest of the package.
The back of the package advises that since WaterWipes don’t container preservatives, they should be used within 1 month of opening. (Not a problem in this house!) They also don’t recommend transferring them into a different container. But don’t worry! An unopened package will keep for 15 months!

I am all for limiting exposure to harsh chemicals but calling anything “chemical free” always sends up red flags for me because it seems that we have turned the word chemical into a dirty and scary word when everything is made of chemicals. We are made of chemicals. The wipes are too since water and grapefruit seed extract are both chemicals. Just a huge pet peeve of mine. For sensitive tushies we switched to cloth diapers and cloth wipes with just water added. That helped cut out rashes all together for V. grapefruit seed extract was very helpful in combating any fungus in the diapers (like when we had thrush).
