At my bridal shower last year, Allie made me these colorful yarn wrapped letters that now sit in my craft room. I look at them every time I go in there to craft, loving the pop of color and texture. I knew that I wanted to use this same concept in the nursery. If it was a boy, they’d get twine or some other “rugged” material, but if it was a girl, I’d use soft yarns.
Since it’s a girl, I got to work using this technique on two crafts for her room, the first of which I’m sharing today! I knew that I wanted to have some sort of a small lamp for my baby’s room that we could put on as soft lighting, instead of the bright overhead lights. I remembered that we used to have this lamp in our guest room for this same purpose.
I just didn’t like the wood base since nothing in the room was this light wood so off to yarn wrap I went! For the actual crafting, I found it was easiest to start at the top flat area of the lamp, and work my way down and around.
Be warned: this craft takes patience, time and a careful eye! I did get a big blister on my pointer finger when hot glue landed on it and I couldn’t get it off! Tip: add glue then wrap in small groups to allow for quick adhesion.
