I’ve seen lots of reels lately where creators are combining pieces and parts of hoodies, crewneck sweatshirts and flannels to create new patchwork look. I wanted to give it a try but started with just the combination of two pieces of clothes. I’m turning a hoodie for my daughters’ travel softball team into a new look with the extension of some striped flannel arms.

Upcycled Hoodie Flannel Supplies:
- 1 Hoodie
- 1 Flannel
- Fabric Scissors
- Tailor’s Chalk
- Sewing Machine
- Sewing clips or straight pins

First I cut some parts apart from my hoodie and flannel. I basically wanted the pocket, center design, hood and cuffs from the hoodie with the flannel arms of the flannel.

I used a straight ruler and tailor’s chalk to mark my cuts. I love that this set has a mix of chalk colors so they can be seen on different fabrics. The white, for example, wouldn’t work on this flannel with white stripes so the pink was more helpful.

Next turn the right sides out and pin the arms onto the hoodie center.

Use a sewing machine to attach it together.

Repeat for the other arm side. Next pin the cuffs onto the sleeves and sew on the inside.

Next pin then sew the bottom band onto the hoodie, trimming down any parts of the flannel that isn’t aligned on the bottom. Note, you will need to do some small pleats in order to get the full length of this piece on your bottom band so I did them on the flannel sides vs the front.

This is how it came out! It’s by no means perfect and therefore something I would never sell, but I’m perfectly happy with the imperfections and will happily rock it t the softball field this spring!
