Derek’s Secret Hamburger Recipe

Now that we’re officially in summer we’re also officially in bbq season! Maybe you’re sick of hamburgers and hotdogs or maybe you just need to try them a new way! Why not try Derek’s Secret Hamburger Recipe?

Ok, posting it here, doesn’t make it too much of a secret right? And honestly, there isn’t much too it! I just thought the title might make it a little more catchy. :)

Supplies:

  • Ground Beef
  • Lipton Onion Soup Mix (the secret ingredient!)
  • Bread Crumbs
  • Wax Paper
  • Hamburger Press (I can’t find the one we have but it’s like one Progressive Perfect White Hamburger Press)
  • Mixing Bowl (not pictured)
  • Pam Spray (not pictured)

First, pour some bread crumbs and one package of Lipton Onion Soup mix into a mixing bowl.

Form a rough ball shape with the ground beef. Roll the ball in the mixture to cover.

Use hands to mix the bread crumb mixture into the meat and reform into ball shape. (This is Derek’s unique way of mixing)

Lay into the hamburger press. Place lid on hamburger press and press to create hamburger patty. (you may need Pam cooking spray so the meat doesn’t stick to the press during later patty making)

This press creates lines and holes within the patty, allowing it to cook faster and more evenly.

Place and the grill and cook to your liking. When you take a bite, you’ll get all a slight hint of onion and other herbs to add to the hamburger flavor!
